Forest, never ending resource in the eyes of the population
Long before its identification and the environmental worries toward the forest, people of diverse ethnicity, running away from the suppression of colonial authorities at that time or just to find arable and fertile lands, introduced themselves gradually inside the forest corridor and found what they need to provide for their daily life. Actually, around 40.000 people live out of the forest’s resources through different activities threatening directly or indirectly the environment of the corridor. In 4 years, from 2000 to 2004, around 20.000 ha of natural forests disappeared.
